Description: |
Repairs machines to the customer’s satisfaction in the field, shop or customers location. Removes, installs, repairs, disassembles, assembles, performs failure analyses of all Caterpillar equipment including engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, power train, brakes, steering and electronic and computer applications.

Duties: |
Conducts necessary machine performance and diagnostic tests, interprets results and makes an independent decision as to the extent of machine repair.
Uses troubleshooting methods to repair and diagnose machine failures and performs repairs according to TRG standards.
Repairs machines with minimum or no warranty and consistently repairs machines within the time requirement guidelines.
Uses web based STW, SIS, and ET effectively to address technical issues. Performs all required tasks in accordance with printed procedures.
Uses web based SIS effectively and orders parts required to complete repairs.
Evaluates parts to determine reusability and cause of failure.
Completes service reports, time cards, and all other types of paperwork on a laptop and is able to submit them via e-mail on a daily basis.
Communicates machine issues, problem resolution plan and status of repair to customer during repairs.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: |
High School diploma required. Five years experience in diagnosis and repair of Caterpillar equipment. Knowledge of Caterpillar scrapers and crawler tractors required. Prior experience in troubleshooting methods and tools required. Must have a current CDL with air brake experience and acceptable driving record. Must meet DOT requirements. Excellent customer service skills, ability to self-schedule and perform duties with minimal supervision required.
Knowledge of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems. Performs all duties in alignment with NMC core values, mission and vision. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others to include customers, vendors, employees and the public. Ability to work overtime with minimal notice required. Ability to drive for long periods of time and travel away from home as required.
This position requires ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds. Frequent walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping and leaning required. |
